This section will contain some responses to headlines and observations regarding issues facing Americans today. Even though material to write about presents itself daily due to my schedule and desire for a family life I will write about the issues that really concern me. I may eventually break this section into several subsections for religion, government, society, rights/liberty, and just plain stupidity.

Leave the entertainment news to the filler shows that run after the nightly news! I am sick and tired of hearing about these moronic pop queens and their drunken, drugged out, anorexic escapades. If the get a DWI throw their @$$es in jail and know that the fact they are in jail is still not newsworthy.
DOCTOR PHIL CURES AIDS, now that would be a story worth airing on the news, not that he visited a dimwit pop queen who behaves in a manner that would get the average American thrown in jail or committed to a state mental institution. Who cares? Really ask yourself… who would possibly care about this?

Please do me a favor I don’t want to hear about Brittney Spears, Paris Hilton, or any other one of these adolescent imbeciles on the news. Give me the weather, traffic report, political information etc, but leave the rest of the entertainment drivel to Entertainment Tonight so at least I will not be tricked into watching it.

I was listening to the radio this morning and almost wrecked my car when I heard this story: wtop news article
Aparently the law makers in Maryland could not come to a decision on whether or not illegal immigrant children should be allowed in state tuition at Maryland colleges.
Am I missing something here? These people are LAW makers….. and they are entertaining the thought of passing a bill that would allow the children of ILLEGAL immigrants to have in state tuition? Isn’t something wrong here? The student quoted in the story is 19 and is not a citizen of the United States! What right does this person have to be in our Country let alone obtain in state tuition?!?!
The parents of these children came here illegally (there is that word again) and we rewarded this criminal behavior by calling their children American citizens. To me this is like getting caught speeding and the police officer says wow that car sucks, here’s a new Mercedes S class and a full tank of gas to get you going. This makes no sense to me.
Our constitution states the following:
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. – XIV Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
I believe that our government should amend this amendment to something more like the following:
All persons born of Parents who are American citizens or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. Children born within the United States and who’s parents successfully attain citizenship will be considered natural born citizens of the United States of America. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.??
What is the practical application of this amendment?
Situation A: Immigrant parents come to the states LEGALLY and apply for their citizenship. After submitting their application for citizenship lets say they do a little celebrating, have a few too many drinks and well a little hanky panky. Nine months later they have a child who upon birth is considered a citizen of whatever country the parents are from. Once the parents attain their citizenship they would present the birth records to the immigration office and their child would be considered a natural born citizen of the United States of America,
Situation B: This would put an end to pregnant couples coming to America and using their children as a loophole to stay in the United States.
I am all for immigration, I believe that America is the greatest country in the world and that anyone should be allowed to come here provided that they obey the laws of our great nation and obtain citizenship according to those laws.
